Berry and Pear Puree
1 medium (230g) pear, peeled, cored and chopped
¼ cup (40g) frozen mixed berries, thawed
Note: As baby starts out, the recipe may need to be halved to prevent wastage
-
Berry and Pear Puree
1. Place pear in a small saucepan, cover with water; bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer until just tender. Drain, reserving ½ cup (125mL) cooking liquid.
2. Push berries through a sieve; discard seeds, add berry puree to pear, puree or mash according to baby’s age, adding some reserved cooking liquid for a thinner consistency if required.
TIP: For convenient quantities, place puree into ice cube trays and freeze. Each cube is equal to about 1 tablespoonful, which is just right for babies just starting out.
